With October coming to a close and the college football season nearly three-quarters of the way through, it's time for the revealing of the first College Football Playoff rankings.

Though the Cowboys haven't made any of the AP Top 25 rankings so far this season, they're right on the bubble, and their early 2-2 start has them set back in that category.

Still, that didn't stop the College Football Playoff committee from voting the Cowboys into their rankings. Oklahoma State is No. 22 in the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.

Obviously, this is destined to change in just a week after the Cowboys host the Oklahoma Sooners in the final edition of Bedlam for the foreseeable future.

Of the top 25, three of the bottom five teams are Big 12 teams. Kansas is ranked just one position ahead of them, which seems fair since they recently upset Oklahoma. Still, the Cowboys downed the Jayhawks.

Right behind the Cowboys? The Kansas State Wildcats. Another team the Cowboys took down this season.

It's hard not to be impressed with the Cowboys making the top 25 of the initial College Football Playoff rankings. They started 2-2. After Week 4, people were calling for Mike Gundy's job. The program seemed to be a mess, and people were rumoring that Gundy might have lost the locker room.

The Cowboys flipped every narrative upside down, as they did with their record. They're now 6-2 and rolling heading into the final Bedlam. The Cowboys host Oklahoma, who is ranked No. 9 in the playoff rankings, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
