Let’s continue building our discussion of how to bet on NASCAR races. In this section, we’ll be explaining some of the popular types of NASCAR bets that you can make.

NASCAR Futures

Futures are probably the most common type of bet in a NASCAR race because they are easy to understand. The simplest future is simply picking the winner of a particular race. Along the same lines, you can also pick a certain driver to finish in the Top 3 or Top 5 as well. There are also season-long futures, such as picking the driver that will win the NASCAR Cup Series Championship.

NASCAR Driver Matchups

Driver matchups is a head-to-head bet type in which you are selecting which driver will have a better finish in a race. For example, you could bet on whether Bubba Wallace or Ty Gibbs will place better in a race.

NASCAR Props

Outside of the NASCAR betting futures market, prop betting is probably the most popular type of bet in NASCAR races. The reason for this is there is a huge variety of things to bet on. One example is whether the winning car will be a Chevrolet, Ford or Toyota. Other types of NASCAR prop bets could be picking the fastest qualifier, picking the winning car number or which driver will finish the best among all Ford cars.

NASCAR Parlays

Parlays are not unique markets for NASCAR betting, but you can create parlays using any of the markets discussed above. Parlays are when you combine multiple bets together for a chance at an increased payout. For example, you could combine two Driver Matchup bets and if both bets win, you will earn a higher payout.

🏎️ NASCAR Odds & Betting Lines Explained

The last section was our first step of showing you how to bet on NASCAR races, as we explained some of the popular types of bets you can make. In this section, we’ll provide more info on those bet types using examples you might see at your sportsbook.

  • Futures: As a reminder, futures can simply be picking the driver that will win the race. For example, you may want to bet on something like “Chase Elliott +850 to win the Coke Zero Sugar 400.”
  • Props: As mentioned above, there is a wide variety of prop markets in NASCAR betting. One such example could be betting on the Winning Car Number of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 to be 10-19 at +220 odds.
  • Driver Matchups: Driver matchups is a head-to-head market involving two or more drivers. You may see odds like this:
    • Kyle Busch -120 vs. Kyle Larson -110

📖 How to Read NASCAR Odds & Betting Lines

This section is the next installment of our series of how to bet on NASCAR races. To make things easy, we’ll use the same examples from above.

  • Futures: Chase Elliott +850 to win the Coke Zero Sugar 400

These odds have a “+” in front of a number, which shows the possible payout for a winning $100 bet. You don’t have to bet $100, it just makes the payout calculation easy to understand. In this example, a $100 bet would profit $850 if Chase Elliott is the driver that wins the Coke Zero Sugar 400.

  • Props: Winning Car Number of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 to be 10-19: +220

With this bet, we are predicting the car of the winning driver to be a number between 10 and 19. This means that if Denny Hamlin, AJ Allmendinger, Martin Truex Jr. or any other driver whose car number is 10-19 wins the race, our bet would be a winner. The +220 odds mean that a $100 bet would profit $220 in this instance.

  • Driver Matchups: Kyle Busch -120 vs. Kyle Larson -110

As you can see, two drivers have listed odds in this example, meaning you can place a bet on either one of them. A $12 bet on Kyle Busch would profit $10 if he finishes the race better than Kyle Larson, while a similar $11 bet on Kyle Larson would win $10 if he finishes better than Busch. Since you would need to wager a bit more on Busch to profit the same amount, this indicates that he is a slight favorite in this matchup.

Some sports bettors prefer to use trends to look for edges in NASCAR betting. Trends involve identifying patterns from previous races that could have significance in upcoming races. Good trends have solid win rates over a large sample size, but that doesn’t mean that they are always going to lead to future winners.

Some trends for NASCAR betting could include how drivers have performed historically on certain tracks. For example, you could look at Denny Hamlin’s performances at the Daytona 500 to make predictions about how he could do at next year’s race. You could also look at things in qualifying, such as perhaps a certain driver is historically very poor when earning the pole position. You can look for trends yourself or use trends from experts, but always keep in mind that they don’t guarantee success.

🤓 NASCAR Betting Strategies

As mentioned above, there is no way to guarantee that you will win in NASCAR betting. We can teach you how to bet on NASCAR by explaining the different markets and bet types, but we can’t give info that will automatically provide winning bets. For the best chance at winning, you could think about using some of the strategies below.

Basic

The most basic NASCAR betting strategy could involve simply tailing bets from an expert. There are plenty of NASCAR betting experts who share their bets for upcoming races, oftentimes for free. The easiest approach to NASCAR betting could simply be making those exact same bets.

Intermediate

One type of intermediate NASCAR betting strategy could be paying close attention to the qualifying rounds. By watching qualifying, you could see if you find anything that could help predict what will happen in the actual race.

Advanced

Advanced NASCAR betting strategies would likely involve the use of statistics. For example, you may see that a particular driver has had some strong performances in recent races that may have been overshadowed by bad luck such as a crash, poor pit stops, etc. Breaking down races using stats would be a tactic used by advanced NASCAR bettors.

❌ What to Avoid When Betting on NASCAR

NASCAR betting has several variables, thus making it extremely difficult to predict. For example, things such as crashes, weather and poor pit stops can all lead to surprising outcomes. Plus, the margins between the drivers are so small that the difference between first and 10th place is often not that large of a gap.

For this reason, it’s crucial to always bet responsibly. Avoid betting more than you can afford to lose, as NASCAR betting, along with betting on any sport, is extremely difficult. Never chase your losses, as this will only lead to trouble in the long term.

📱 Betting on NASCAR With Mobile Apps

The best way to engage in NASCAR betting is to place bets through one of the mobile apps offered by reputable sportsbooks. You can download NASCAR betting apps from either the App Store or Google Play store. Once you have an app on your mobile device, you’ll have access to all of the great NASCAR betting markets we have discussed in this article.

Make sure you’re first able to answer the question “Can I bet on NASCAR online legally?” before trying to participate on a mobile app.
