The New York Mets likely are turning their focus to the 2024 campaign.

The 2023 season certainly hasn't gone as planned for New York. The Mets entered the season with World Series aspirations after winning 101 games last season and seemingly improving on paper, but the club currently sits at 46-53 and likely would need a monumental turnaround to make the postseason now.

New York likely is speeding toward somewhat of a sale ahead of the 2023 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline, although it won't be a full rebuild. The Mets have too much talent and are too expensive to fully change their roster. Instead the club likely will part with some fringe veterans to save money and add a few prospects while preparing for the 2024 season. One player who reportedly could be on the move and could bring in solid value is outfielder Tommy Pham, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

"Many teams expect the Mets to engage in a soft unloading. Outfielder Tommy Pham would be among the best bats available," Passan said.

Pham is no stranger to a trade deadline deal and was dealt from the Cincinnati Reds to the Boston Red Sox ahead of the 2022 campaign. The outfielder signed as a free agent with New York this past offseason and could find himself on the move once again. The Mets seem to have a surplus of outfielders and Pham could bring in solid value if dealt to a contender. The 35-year-old has been impressive this season and is slashing .271/.355/.472 across 75 games to go along with nine home runs and 35 RBIs.

There's no way for sure to know exactly what New York will do, but the Mets likely will be one of the busiest teams ahead of the August 1 trade deadline.
