As incredibly consistent as Boston has been through the first half of the season, New Orleans has been one of the most polarizing teams over the past week. After scoring a franchise-record 153 points last Tuesday, they scored just 83 points the following game and just lost by 24 points in their most recent matchup.
Those last two contests came against playoff-caliber teams, so we’re confident in the Celtics on their home court tonight. However, as they’ve become a public favorite over the last few seasons, the point spread seems a bit inflated. Admittedly, they’re 4-0 against the spread against the Pelicans in their most recent meetings, but those have been as low as three points.
Boston has also barely covered some of those spreads, doing so by just 1.5 and 3.5 points at times. Each of those games were also over a calendar year ago, which is significant as that means New Orleans was without Zion Williamson. All that to say, while we expect a Boston win, we’re going to focus on a high-scoring game instead.
