Jazz Insider Reveals Huge Injury Update on Rookie Taylor Hendricks
An unfortunate string of injuries kept both Taylor Hendricks and Brice Sensabaugh from making their Utah Jazz debut in Summer League. On the heels of learning that Keyonte George has been cleared for action, the Jazz finally provided an update on the health of their two other first-rounders, courtesy of The Athletic's Tony Jones.
"In addition to Keyonte George, Taylor Hendricks has also been cleared for all on court activities. Brice Sensabaugh is still recovering from his March knee surgery," Jones tweeted.
Hendricks, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 draft, has been cleared for all on-court activities. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered in the pre-draft process.
This injury subsequently forced Hendricks to miss all eight of the Jazz Summer League matchups. While this was not perceived to be a significant injury, it's nice to hear that he had no further complications in his recovery.
The versatile big man will have his work cut out for him as Hendricks tries to solidify his spot in a crowded frontcourt. Thankfully, he should be fully healthy for training camp.
Sensabaugh, the No. 28 overall pick in the draft, is still recovering from knee surgery that ended his lone season at Ohio State. Clarity about what the knee injury was have been murky at best.
Along with his latest injury, Sensabaugh had already undergone surgery twice to repair a pair of meniscus injuries when he was in high school. It seems like the Jazz have erred on the cautious side with injuries, which is probably another example of that.
With Jazz training camp set to start in late September, there will hopefully be enough time for Sensabaugh to get healthy and back on the court with no restrictions. With news coming out earlier in the day, it's been a positive batch of updates from the team.
If the Jazz are set to make that leap up the standings they’re hoping for, they will need good health to be on their side.
