SEC Star Linebacker Meeting Chargers For Pre-Draft Visit

The Los Angeles Chargers will be entering the upcoming NFL Draft ready to add some major talent to the roster. Los Angeles holds the fifth overall pick in the first round of the draft and is expected to take either a wide receiver or offensive tackle with the selection.

But the Bolts have many holes along the roster that need to be filled before they can vault themselves into true contention. The team has been meeting with players as they get ready for the draft, including star linebacker Edgerrin Cooper from Texas A&M. The two sides were scheduled to meet on Thursday for a pre-draft visit.

The Bolts need a lot of help along their defense, so looking at someone like Cooper makes sense. While he won't be taken with their first-round pick, the team could look to move up from their second-round selection to take him or hope that he falls to them.

The linebacker played in 12 games last season for the Aggies, posting 84 tackles, 17 of them for loss. He also added eight sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery throughout the season.

Cooper starred with the Aggies for the past three seasons, putting himself in a good spot to be drafted high in the draft. He is a high-energy type of player, who could make a big difference in the Chargers' new defensive scheme.
