Chargers News: Raiders Poach Bolts Interim GM for Executive Role

The Raiders are adding another former Charger to their front office staff.

The Las Vegas Raiders have taken another former Los Angeles Chargers GM. After hiring Tom Telesco as their next GM, the Raiders are hiring recent Chargers interim GM JoJo Wooden as a high-ranking executive under Telesco, via Ian Rapoport

Wooden worked under Telesco for the entirety of Telesco's tenure with the Chargers, where Wooden was the Director of Player Personnel. Both Wooden and Telesco arrived with the Chargers in 2013 and spent a decade with the team.

Before joining the Chargers, Wooden worked his way up through the New York Jets front office over 15 years, rising from a pro personnel assistant to a scout, and eventually becoming the Jets Assistant director of player personnel.

After Telesco was fired alongside former head coach Brandon Staley following the Chargers' disastrous 63-21 loss to the Raiders, Wooden took over as interim GM for the final three games of the season.

Wooden interviewed with the Chargers following the regular season for their GM opening, but the Chargers opted to make Joe Hortiz their next GM instead.

Now, both Wooden and Telesco will be tasked with building up one of the Chargers AFC West rivals in the Raiders. It was a bit surprising to see the Raiders hire Telesco, especially after their win over the Chargers cost Telesco his job, but Telesco brings a lot of experience and a decent track record to this Raiders role.

With Wooden and Telesco on the Raiders, they will be directly competing against their former team to build a roster better suited to take over the division. However, it won't be easy to outdo the Chargers new staff with Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh.
