You may or may not have heard of colostrum, but you likely have had it in your life. Colostrum is a form of milk produced in all mammals in the first few days after giving birth. It's hyper-nutritious and full of antibodies that help to protect a baby from infection and get them through the first and most critical days of their lives.

While an essential component of various species' reproduction throughout history, colostrum can substantially benefit human health at every point in their lives. Today, cow-based colostrum is being produced as a wellness supplement due to its various benefits, such as potentially improving gut health, boosting the immune system and fighting off infections. One of the companies at the forefront of offering colostrum is called ARMRA. Our ARMRA colostrum review is intended to help explain colostrum's potential benefits.

What Is ARMRA Colostrum?

ARMRA is a company that produces refined colostrum using a comprehensive low-temperature process it calls "Cold-Chain BioPotent Technology.” This low-temperature filtering process of colostrum sourced from grass-fed cows helps create a cleaner, more natural and more potent form of colostrum that removes unnecessary dairy compounds (such as casein, which is a significant allergen) from it while strategically preserving and concentrating the bioactive and nutritious components of the super milk for human consumption. Furthermore, ARMRA's colostrum is non-GMO, produced in the USA via Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)-certified facilities, keto-certified and fat-free.

According to ARMRA, its colostrum has been third-party tested to compare it to other colostrum products on the market today. These tests reportedly resulted in independent researchers determining ARMRA's unique colostrum concentrate to have an immune-boosting anti-bacterial composition 32 percent stronger than its competitors. Other research used by ARMRA has contributed to the claims the brand makes for its products.

Immune Revival

Armra Immune Revival

ARMRA's Immune Revival is its baseline colostrum supplement, produced for people seeking the benefits of this nutrient-dense superfood. As with all its products, this supplement is also free of GMOs, sugar, soy, preservatives, artificial additives and fat. The Immune Revival colostrum supplement is available in Blood Orange, Vine Watermelon and Unflavored options. Both flavored versions use only organic non-artificial ingredients and stevia for sweetener and flavor. Immune Revival is designed to deliver some of the core benefits of colostrum, such as immunity and digestion support, which could potentially lead to improved hair growth and skin health, positive changes to your metabolism and improved gut health and overall well-being.

The three flavored versions are available in bulk powder form (120 servings) or 30 single-serving stick packs, making precise and consistent monthly use of colostrum easier to manage. You can increase your intake if you are feeling ill or having stomach problems, or before working out to potentially help increase your energy levels before training. The unflavored stick pack is $39.99, with the two flavored options being a little more expensive at $49.99. However, the bulk jar version is $109.99 for roughly a four-month supply, offering great savings. With nearly 1,300 customer reviews on Amazon, ARMRA’s Immune Revival holds a 4.1 out of 5 stars.

Performance Revival

Armra Performance Revival

ARMRA's Performance Revival supplement is a more athlete-focused version of its colostrum. The Performance Revival includes not only ARMRA's distinguished colostrum but has black cumin, raw cacao and tart cherry added to the mix. All ingredients are organic, including organic stevia as the sweetener. Each added ingredient in this fitness-focused version of the brand's colostrum has a specific performance-enhancing purpose, the brand says. Organic cacao is added to increase magnesium and flavonoids that may contribute to your metabolism while stimulating healthier blood flow. Organic black cumin is added with the aim of boosting energy and relieving inflammation. And tart cherry is added as a potentially potent source of antioxidants and vitamin C that may increase mental and physical agility.

When analyzed and compared to whey protein powders during testing trials, users of colostrum (though not ARMRA brand) found a noticeable improvement in their running economy after eight weeks of supplementation. Another test demonstrated improved explosive power recovery time when performing jumping squats after six weeks of supplementation by soccer players. One study demonstrated an increase in lean body mass after using bovine colostrum, though further tests are needed to determine the true efficacy of colostrum as a training supplement.

Performance Revival is a bit more expensive than ARMRA's baseline colostrum supplement at $79.99 for a 30-serving bulk jar.

Benefits of ARMRA Colostrum

A 2014 eight-week study of athletes using bovine colostrum supplementation when engaged in resistance training found users of the supplement to experience increased upper-body strength, muscle thickness, lean muscle mass and even cognitive function. Another eight-week study in 2001 found that colostrum combined with exercise contributed to increased bone-free lean-muscle body mass. While colostrum has demonstrated that it may likely contribute to athletic performance, there are a variety of benefits that could possibly result from using colostrum:

These benefits tend to come from the massive amount of micro- and macro-nutrients, lactoferrin, muscle-stimulating growth factors, immunoglobulins (particularly IgGs), proteins, digestive enzymes and other bioactive elements packed in colostrum, especially when compared to traditional milk or other dairy products. For example, colostrum has proven to have significantly higher levels of B2, B12, vitamin D, vitamin E, calcium, copper, zinc, manganese, phosphorus and magnesium than regular milk.

ARMRA Ingredients

ARMRA uses only high-quality organic ingredients and sources its colostrum without using any antibiotics. All its colostrum is sourced from GMP-certified facilities in the USA, using grass-fed cows. ARMRA does ethically source its colostrum by only taking it from female cows after their young have received all the nutrients they need.

About ARMRA

Sarah Rahal, MD, created ARMRA in 2020. She is a certified pediatric neurologist who specializes in functional medicine. Beyond realizing and understanding the potential benefits of colostrum, she also realized the consequences of the vast amount of artificial and toxic ingredients many of us ingest in the modern world. Her approach was to create a form of colostrum that was as pure, natural and ethically sourced as possible. ARMRA is a partner of the CarbonFund and claims to offset upwards of 79,000 pounds of carbon emissions each year.
