The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus first hit the scene back in September 2022, but it’s time to get excited again. Spring is nearly here and to celebrate, Apple just dropped an iPhone with a fresh coat of point.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus now come in yellow, and it’s the latest iteration of a mid-season color launch for Apple’s flagship smartphones. Last year, we got the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini in green along with the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max in Alpine Green. This year, the technology giant is delivering a more vibrant pop of color.
Preorders open on Friday, March 10, with the phone officially launching on March 14, but SI Showcase already has one, so let’s show it off.
Here is a pro-tip—if you’re looking to get the yellow iPhone, it’s best to lock in a trade-in offer from a carrier or a third-party like Decluttr that will pay you cash. This way you can cut down on the $799 or $899 cost of the 14 or 14 Plus.
Yes, It’s a Yellow iPhone
If you’re a fan of this vibrant hue, there is a good chance Apple had you at the name of it: yellow.
Unlike some of the other shades—blue, purple, Midnight, Starlight, or (PRODUCT) RED—this one definitely pops a bit more. Apple opted for a brighter yellow that appears more muted from the aluminum sides of the iPhone 14 but ultimately shines on the back.
Similar to the Midnight color, which is a black with some deep, dark blues interwoven, this iPhone hue will change a bit depending on lighting conditions. As far as the details go, the aluminum edges of the iPhone 14 are still matte and most of the back is glossy yellow glass. The camera bump is a bit more muted with a bit of a frost over the glass. Out of the box, it comes paired with a yellow wallpaper that matches the original one Apple debuted with the 14s.

However, aside from the fresh coat of paint all-around and the wallpaper, the yellow iPhone 14 is a normal iPhone 14. Same goes for the yellow iPhone 14 Plus:At its heart it is an iPhone 14 Plus. They feature either a 6.1-inch or 6.7-inch Liquid Retina display that packs in the details and can pop with color.
You still get Face ID for easy unlocking and authentication from a notch up-top. It even contains a 12-megapixel camera for taking excellent selfies and capturing up to 4K video. Over on the rear, you really have one of the best cameras available on any smartphone in the form of two lenses. Both are 12-megapixels, but you get a wide and ultra wide that, when used right, let you take a variety of shots. You can also capture Portrait mode photos that automatically blur the background and sharpen focus on the foreground.
Powering all of this is Apple’s A15 Bionic processor, which provides enough runway for getting anything done on an iPhone that you could want, from browsing the web or playing a game toFaceTiming with friends or family, multitasking, or just sending messages. It all feels very immediate, and that goes for when you unbox the iPhone 14 or six months down the line using it day in and day out.
