On Saturday, the Huskies take on ninth-seeded Providence (13-19) in the Big East tournament quarterfinals at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. UConn will extend its streak of 34 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and has played in 29 straight Sweet Sixteens. Last season was the first time since 2007 the Huskies haven't played in the Final Four. The Friars will need to win the conference tournament to reach its first NCAA tourney since 1992.

Providence opened the Big East tournament on Friday with a 75-60 victory over No. 8 seed Butler after splitting road wins with the Bulldogs in the regular season. Emily Archibald had 17 points and Olivia Olsen finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Olsen averages 14.0 points and 8.8 boards while Grace Efosa gets 12.5 points per game.
The Huskies last played on Feb. 2, closing their regular season with a 65-42 win at Providence. Paige Bueckers had 17 points and Aaliyah Edwards knocked down 13 in the win. Bueckers scores 20.7 points per game, Edwards averages 17.9 points and 9.5 rebounds and Nika Mühl hands out 6.4 assists a night.
UConn has a 47-21 edge all-time against the Friars and has won the last 35 games in the series, with Providence's last win coming on March 7, 1993. Besides the win on March 2, the Huskies also routed the Friars at home 85-41 on Jan. 10.
