Western Carolina and Furman will begin their quest to a SoCon Championship on Saturday night as they meet in the quarterfinal round of tournament play.

On Saturday night, Southern Conference Tournament play will begin for fifth-seeded Furman and fourth-seeded Western Carolina as the teams play in the quarterfinal round. The Paladins come into tournament play with an overall record of 16-15 and a conference record of 10-8. The team lost its final two regular season games with the most recent being an 82-75 loss to Mercer. JP Pegues led the Paladins in scoring with 19 points while PJay Smith Jr. finished right behind him with 17 points. Marcus Foster pulled down 10 rebounds to lead on the boards and added 13 points to earn a double-double in the loss.

The Catamounts finished the regular season with an overall record of 22-9 and a conference record of 11-7. The team is on a three-game win streak with the latest victory being an 82-63 win over Chattanooga in the season finale. Tre Jackson led the offensive play for the Catamounts with 20 points while Vonterius Woolbright and Russell Jones Jr. added 15 points each. Woolbright recorded a triple-double in the win by leading on the boards with 13 rebounds and added 10 assists. 

Western Carolina and Furman met in the penultimate regular season game which resulted in an 85-77 victory for the Catamounts.
