The first semifinal of the Big East Tournament has ninth-ranked UConn (27-5) in a position to play for the conference championship for the fourth season in a row. The last three Big East Tournaments went to the Huskies and with a win against Marquette (23-7) today in the semifinals they will be right back in the championship game. Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards have the Huskies playing terrific basketball heading into today winning seven straight games, all by at least 20 points. They dominated the Big East during the regular season going 18-0, including a 26-point win over the Golden Eagles game.

In their one regular season game this season the Huskies won 85-59 led by 26 points and five assists from Bueckers. After the Huskies were up just 19-18 after the first period, they ran away with the game winning every period after in a 26-point win.
Bueckers led five players in double-figures, all from the starting lineup. Ashlynn Shade (15 points and six rebounds), Nika Muhl (13 points and six assists), KK Arnold (13 points and four rebounds) and Edwards (10 points and 12 rebounds) all contributed to the runaway win over the Golden Eagles in the only game the teams played this season.
Liza Karlen (21 points and six rebounds) and Mackenzie Hare (19 points on 4-6 shooting from three) were the two bright spots for the Golden Eagles in the loss. Those two combined for 40 points on 16-29 shooting while the rest of the team finished with just 19 points on 8-31 shooting.
