The first semifinal of the Big Sky Tournament in women’s college basketball will see either Weber State (8-24) or Eastern Washington (26-5) punch its ticket to the championship game. The Wildcats finished the regular season in eighth place and are now just a win away from the opportunity to play for the championship. They take on an Eagles team that finished first in the conference and are riding a 10-game winning streak heading into this game. All season the Eagles have been formidable winning 10 games in a row on two separate occasions and only losing two games in conference.

The Wildcats held off a tough Portland State team that got 27 points from Rhema Ogele and eight points from Alaya Fitzgerald in the quarterfinal loss. Now they look for the first win of the season against the Eagles after two losses in the regular season.

In the regular season the Eagles won 56-38 and 74-54 to sweep the season series. Jamie Loera (17 points, seven rebounds and five assists) and Jaydia Martin (15 points and seven rebounds) led the way in the first win for the Eagles where they held the Wildcats to 10 points or less in all four periods.

Then in the second game Loera also paced the offense with 21 points, eight assists and four rebounds going 3-6 from three. On the defensive end the Eagles clamped down in the second period holding the Wildcats to just four points, building a 19 point lead at the half. Another defensive performance like that will send the Eagles to the Big Sky Championship Game.
