The Aztecs made it through to the quarterfinal round after beating San Jose State on Sunday in a 72-51 victory. Meghan Fiso came off the bench to lead the scoring for the Aztecs with 15 points while Abby Prohaska and Kim Villalobos finished close behind with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Kylee Pepe led on the boards with six rebounds on the night and added four points to the scoreboard. The win improved the Aztecs' overall record to 20-12 on the season.

The Lobos will begin Mountain West tournament play on Monday after receiving a first round bye. The team finished regular season play with an overall record of 21-10 and a conference record of 12-6. New Mexico's last time out was last week in a game against Fresno State in which the team picked up a 72-58 win to finish off the regular season on a high note. Nyah Wilson led the team with a huge 33-point performance and also led on the boards with six rebounds.
When San Diego State and New Mexico met just two weeks ago, the Lobos just squeaked out a 66-63 victory at home.
