The first semifinal in the Big Sky Tournament Wednesday features second-seeded Northern Arizona (24-8) taking on third-seeded Montana (22-8). The Lumberjacks split the season series with the Grizzlies, setting the stage for this game to not only be an opportunity to advance to the championship game, but also the rubber match between the rival programs. Heading into this semifinal matchup the Lumberjacks have won five straight games from the regular season into the tournament and the Grizzlies have won three games in a row. Both teams are playing some of their best basketball of the season building towards the most important game for each.

In their two games this season the Grizzlies won 89-84 the first time the teams met, then the Lumberjacks evened up the season series in a 69-60 win just over a month ago. Both games were close, single-digit wins for the teams.
Mack Koniq led the way for the Grizzlies in their win with 24 points and seven assists. She shot 4-for-7 from three in the win to lead four players in double-figures in Carmen Gfeller (18 points), Gina Marxen (12 points off the bench) and Dani Bartsch (11 points) in a well-balanced game on both ends of the floor.
Then in the Lumberjacks win they were led by Sophie Glancey with a monster 30-point game. She went 14-for-20 from inside the three-point line with eight rebounds and three steals to help her team even the season series and build momentum towards finishing second in the Big Sky this season.
