The Mean Green made it through to the quarterfinal round after defeating 10th-seeded Tulane on Thursday night in an 81-71 victory. CJ Noland came off the bench to lead the North Texas offense with a 23-point performance. Robert Allen and Jason Edwards joined Noland in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Rubin Jones led the team on the boards with eight rebounds to go along with 15 points. The Mean Green finished the game shooting 42.2% from the field and 48% from beyond the arc in the win.
The last time North Texas and Florida Atlantic met was in the penultimate regular season game and Florida Atlantic won in an 80-76 victory.
