They could have played all night ... and very nearly did. Top-seeded Arrowhead (27-2) played the longest game in the 108-year history of the Wisconsin state tournament on Friday night to reach the Division 1 championship game for the second straight year. The Warhawks will face No. 3 seed Marquette (25-4) for the title on Saturday night at the Kohl Center in Madison. The Hilltoppers are seeking their first state championship while Arrowhead won it all in 2010. Arrowhead lost to De Pere in last year's state title game, also losing in the finals in 2006 and 2017. Marquette lost the 2010 championship game to the Warhawks in its lone bid for the title.

Arrowhead trailed by as much as 15 in the first half before rallying for a 99-95 quadruple-overtime victory over Neenah in a rematch of a 2023 semifinal. Jace Gilbert scored 34 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Green Bay commit Bennett Basich had 24 points before fouling out early in the fourth overtime.
After standing in the wings waiting for the first semifinal to finish, the Hilltoppers never trailed in a 67-60 victory over No. 2 seed Kettle Moraine on Friday. Nolan Minessale had 24 points and T.J. Adams added 15 as Marquette shot 61.5% (24-of-39) on the night.
The Arrowhead-Neenah game also set a state tournament record as the highest-scoring game, with the teams combining for 194 points. The previous record of 180 points had stood since 1967, when Milwaukee Lincoln beat La Crosse Central 109-71. Arrowhead also set a state tournament record by shooting 71.7% (33-of-46).
