North Star (26-1), the top seed in the North Dakota Class B state tournament, plays Saturday night for the school's second state title when it takes on No. 3 seed Westhope/Newburg (25-2) at the Minot State Dome in Minot. The Bearcats are in their third state championship game, winning the 2011 title and finishing runner-up in 2012. For the Sioux, Saturday night marks their first-ever appearance in the final, having made their lone appearance at the state tournament in 2003. The Sioux trailed by 15 entering the fourth quarter against Bowman County before erupting for 31 points in the final eight minutes for a 63-61 victory. They hit 11-of-15 overall and 3-of-5 from deep in the final period. Walker Braaten led the charge for Westhope/Newburg with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Braden Bailey scored 13 points.

The Bearcats pulled away from Minot Bishop Ryan in the second half to post a 62-48 victory. Dane Hagler finished with 25 points, 13 after halftime. Parker Simon added nine points, all from 3-point range.

North Star has won 13 straight games while the Sioux have a five-game winning streak.
