Payton Sandfort and No. 3 Iowa will take the court against Tylor Perry and No. 6 Kansas State tonight.

The No. 3-seeded Iowa from the Big Ten will take their home court at Carver Arena in Iowa City, Iowa, against the No. 6-seeded Kansas State from the Big 12 in the first round of the NIT Tournament. The Hawkeyes finished their season 18-14 overall and 10-10 against Big Ten teams as the No. 7 team in the conference. They immediately lost in the second round of the conference tournament upon entering the tournament against Ohio State 90-78. They will turn their attention now to the NIT, where Ohio State is also a member. Payton Sanfort has led the team in scoring all season for Iowa. He averages 16.3 points per game to go with 6.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He was followed by Tony Perkins who averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Those two will need to get going for Iowa to have a shot at this championship.

The Wildcats, just one season removed from a deep NCAA Tournament run, finished 19-14 overall this season and 8-10 against conference teams in the Big 12. After taking down Texas in the second round, they lost to the now-Big 12 champion, Iowa State, in the quarterfinals.

Tylor Perry leads the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game and 4.4 assists per game as a team-high. Arthur Kaluma follows him averaging 14.7 points per game and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.
