The women's beach volleyball season is underway and on Friday morning, Utah will square off against No. 14 Washington at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility. The Utes come into Friday's match with a record of 6-2 so far and have won five in a row. Most recently, the team played to a 4-1 victory over McNeese State in Texas. Pairs Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister, Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani, Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch and Sonja Wessel and Ray Milan each won their respective matches. Three of the four winning pairs won in two sets while Griffin and McAlister had to battle back to force a third set after dropping the first.

The Huskies are currently on a two match losing streak to bring their overall record to 3-5 and their conference record to 1-0. The team's most recent games resulted in a five-set loss to No. 1 UCLA and a 3-2 loss to No. 9 Long Beach State over the weekend. Zoey Henson and Lauren Wilcock and Natalie Martin and Kierstyn Barton each won their matches in two sets, but the other three pairs for the Huskies came up short to suffer the team's second straight loss.

Washington is undefeated against Utah at 9-0 with the most recent match being a straight set win last season.
