The Tar Heels are right behind Duke in the conference standings with an ACC record of 4-1 and an overall record of 11-3. The team's most recent game resulted in its only conference loss against No. 4 Virginia in a 3-2 battle on the road. UNC scored two second-quarter goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, but Virginia found the back of the net three times in the second half to hand UNC its loss in ACC play. Ryleigh Heck scored both goals for UNC to bring her total to nine goals on the year. Maddie Kahn saw four shots in net on the day but finished the game with zero saves.
Duke and UNC met in the final game of regular season play last year, as well, and the Tar Heels picked up a 2-0 win to stay perfect on the year.
