The Showcase at Cedar Crest is a one-of-a-kind, unique golf tournament that brings the top 21 male and top 21 female collegiate golfers for 54 holes of stroke play. These are the top African-American golfers in the country as well, which is what makes this tournament so unique. The festivities started yesterday and continue today with the first round of the tournament, followed by two more rounds tomorrow and Wednesday this week. This tournament was created by Ira Molayo, the director of golf at Cedar Crest in Dallas, Texas and the founder of the nonprofit The I AM a Golfer Foundation to spotlight the best college African-American golfers in the sport today.

The Cedar Crest Golf Course has a storied history in the world of golf. It hosted the 1927 PGA Championship and has been one of the most formative courses in the state of Texas for 100 years.
In the field are golfers from all over the country. There are golfers from California to New York, New Mexico to Florida and all across the country. The first round will set the stage for the rest of the tournament for the men’s and women’s individual fields that showcase the top 21 golfers in each.
The I AM a Golfer Foundation has awarded $200,000 in college scholarships while also helping the community with jobs, internships, improvements to the golf course and working with junior golfers to improve their game.
