The Yas Marina Circuit's dominant feature is a three-quarter mile straight between Turns 5 and 6 that features slow-speed turns on either end. The stretch from Turns 10-12 forces drivers to brake hard while carrying significant lateral inertia on the car. The circuit was modified to 3.281 miles in 2021. Five turns were removed, leaving 16.
Verstappen extended his single season victory mark to 18 in Las Vegas. The win also moved the 26-year-old into a tie with Sebastian Vettel for third place on the all-time Formula 1 list with 53 Grand Prix victories. Only Hamilton (103) and Michael Schumacher (91) have more.
Verstappen won here last year to close out the season, finishing atop the podium above Leclerc and Pérez. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was added to the F1 calendar in 2009, with Hamilton winning a record five times. Vettel and Verstappen each have three victories in the race.
