Javier Báez was responsible for the team's only run when he hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning to score Kerry Carpenter. Carpenter had tripled to put himself in scoring position. Kenta Maeda earned the win on the mound for Detroit after pitching four innings in his start and striking out seven batters.
The Tigers and Phillies last played on March 1 and the Tigers walked away with a 4-2 victory.
