The first round of the Valspar Championship tees off today from the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida as Taylor Moore defends his championship looking to become the fifth player to win this event multiple times. Sam Burns, who won this event in 2021 and 2022, is in the field this week along with former champions Adam Hadwin, Jordan Spieth, Kevin Streelman and Gary Woodland as well as Brian Harman, Keegan Bradley, Xander Schauffele, Sungjae Im and Matt Kuchar. The 7,340-yard par 71 track has played host to this event since 2000 and has been a spring fixture since 2007 as part of the Florida swing.

Last Year, Moore carded a final round 67 defeating Adam Schenk by one stroke for his first career PGA Tour Victory. Moore went on to make the cut at the Masters and PGA Championship and comes into this week off a t-31 at The Players Championship last week.
After three consecutive top-15 finishes in this event, Justin Thomas is in the field this week in search of his first win of the year. Thomas has missed the cut in two of his last three events but has four top-15 minutes in six starts this season.
Winner of this event will take home $1.512 million of the total $8.4 million purse as well as 500 points in the FedExCup standings.
