The IHSA Class 4A boys' state tournament is underway and on Friday night, Homewood-Flossmoor High School will take on New Trier for a chance to play in the state final on Saturday. The Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings come into Friday's game with a record of 31-4 this season and made it through to the semifinals after beating Curie in a narrow 60-58 victory. The Vikings were down by eight heading into the fourth quarter, but strong play by Gianni Cobb and Jaden Tyler allowed the team to finish the game on a 14-4 run to earn the win. Bryce Heard leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 16.9 points per game, but Cobb is right behind with an average of 15.1 points per game.

The New Trier Trevians come into the semifinal game with a record of 21-7 and have won seven games in a row with the most recent being a 65-41 win over Carol Stream on Monday. Christopher Kirkpatrick assumed his role as the leading scorer for New Trier in the win with a 22-point performance. Kirkpatrick has led the team all season and is averaging 13.6 points per game.
