Bismarck (18-7) knocked off the No. 2 seed from North Dakota's East Region in Thursday's Class AA state quarterfinals and on Friday, the Demons get another shot at the West Region's No. 1 team, Minot (25-2), at the Bismarck Event Center. This is the first year North Dakota has held a Class AA tournament after expanding from two divisions to three for this academic year. Bismarck and the Majettes are each in their third straight state tournament, having advanced to the Class A event in 2022 and 2023. Minot won the Class A state title in 2022 while Bismarck last won it in 2009. The Majettes beat the Demons 61-48 on Dec. 15 and 64-42 on Jan. 26.

Minot survived an opening punch from West Fargo Sheyenne in Thursday's quarterfinal, shrugging off an 11-0 run to open the game in an 84-45 rout. Sophomore Leelee Bell went for 38 points and 12 rebounds, scoring 27 in the first half, while freshman Kinley Bartsch added 17 points and 10 boards.
The Demons won for the eighth time in their last games in eliminating West Fargo Horace 69-56 on Thursday. Bismarck closed the first half on a 22-0 run. Jersey Berg scored 17 of her game-high 29 points in the first half while 14 of Paige Breuer's 24 points came after intermission.
The winner gets the winner of Friday's later semifinal between Fargo Davies and Grand Forks Red River in Saturday's state championship game.
