Wisconsin Lutheran (29-0) escaped its semifinal with a buzzer-beater and advanced to Saturday night's Division 2 state championship game at the Kohl Center in Madison against No. 2 seed Pewaukee (25-4), the three-time defending state champion. This is the fourth straight title game appearance for Pewaukee and also the fourth overall for the Pirates, as they lost in the semifinals in their only other state tournament trip in 2001. It is also the fourth state championship game appearance for the Vikings, who won titles in 2009 and 2014 and lost in the 2013 final. Wisconsin Lutheran. located in Milwaukee, lost to Pewaukee in a sectional final in 2023.

Duke commit Ron Knueppel took over the game for the Vikings in the second half, scoring or assisting on 23 of their 27 points after the break and Alex Greene's layup just before time expired lifted Wisconsin Lutheran to a 56-54 thriller over Nicolet. Knueppel finished with 26 points and seven assists while Logan Rindfleisch added 11.
The Pirates led by as much as 30 late in the second half before emptying their bench and cruised to an 89-69 win over West Salem on Friday. Nick Janowski posted a triple-double with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and Luka Momcilovic finished with 23 points and 13 boards.
While the Vikings come in with 29 straight wins, Pewaukee has won its last seven contests since an 81-67 loss to De Pere, a Division 1 opponent, on Feb. 17. The Pirates have won every tournament game by at least 13 points.
