The stage is set and on Saturday afternoon, the UIL Conference 6A Division I Championship will be played between Duncanville and Galena Park North Shore at AT&T Stadium. The Duncanville Panthers finished the regular season with an 8-1 record, losing only to DeSoto in week eight in a 49-35 defeat. DeSoto will be playing in the Division II Championship later tonight. Since that loss, the Panthers have gone on to win six straight with the most recent being a big 52-10 win over previously undefeated North Crowley to earn a spot in the championship game which is a rematch of last year's state championship game which Duncanville won 28-21.

Galena Park North Shore comes into Saturday's championship game with an undefeated record of 15-0. The Mustangs have only been challenged a handful of times this season and have outscored their opponents 667-226. North Shore made it through the semifinal round after beating Westlake 23-14. The team trailed until the third quarter when the Mustangs took a 17-14 lead on a field goal from Jonathan Soto. Trailing in the fourth, Westlake tried to play out of its own end zone in its final possession, but the ball was tipped and the Mustangs ran it in to make it a two-possession game as the clock ran down.
This year, North Shore will look to finish the season with a perfect 16-0 record with a win over Duncanville after falling short last year.
