The Cleveland Guardians (5-10) have won three of their last five decisions after a slow start in spring training, including a win on Monday, and will visit the Texas Rangers (9=7) at Surprise Stadium in a Cactus League matchup on Tuesday afternoon. Cleveland took some self-inflicted damage on the injury report before Monday's game when catcher Austin Hedges had to be scratched from the lineup after he collided with a teammate during a pregame workout. Pitcher Gavin Williams had to skip an appearance on Sunday because of right elbow discomfort, as well. The Rangers reported Monday that third baseman Josh Jung is expected to play in the team's final two exhibition games against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field in Arlington. He has been out with a calf injury.

Texas banged out 17 hits in a 15-5 thumping of the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. Andrew Knizner drove in three runs and Ezequiel Duran homered as the Rangers slugged 10 extra-base hits. Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi struck out five, walked four and gave up four hits in 4.2 innings in an uneven tuneup start.
Triston McKenzie struck out four in three innings of one-hit pitching and the Guardians topped the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday 5-1. Deyvison De Los Santos, Angel Martínez and Steven Kwan delivered consecutive RBI singles in a three-run fourth inning that propelled them to the win.
Left-hander Andrew Heaney has struck out nine and allowed four runs in five innings over his first two spring starts for Texas and takes the ball on Tuesday. Right-hander Shane Bieber is set for his second outing in Arizona after giving up two runs on a hit and three walks over 1.2 innings his first time out.
