The second of two IndyCar Series races at Iowa Speedway is set for Sunday with the Hy-Vee One Step 250 after Josef Newgarden continued his strong performance on oval tracks with a dominant win on Saturday in the Hy-Vee Homefront 250. Will Power won the pole for Sunday's race with Newgarden qualifying seventh after winning the pole on Saturday. Newgarden won by 3.3755 seconds on Saturday for his fifth win in six races on ovals over the last year. Only five cars finished on the lead lap, a sign of how strong Newgarden's run was. With the win, he jumped into second place in the driver standings, 98 points behind Álex Palou, whose three-race winning streak ended with an eighth-place finish.

Iowa Speedway, located 30 miles east of Des Moines in Newton, is a D-shaped oval short track covering 0.875 miles. Saturday's win was Newgarden's fourth on the track, breaking a tie with Ryan Hunter-Reay for the most since the series began racing there in 2007.
Dixon dropped from second to third in the standings, 114 points back of Palou, with Pato O'Ward (133 points behind) and Marcus Ericsson (135 points back) rounding out the top five in the standings.
Palou won the series championship in 2021. Dixon has a record six championships, the last in 2020, while Power picked up his second title last year.
