Austin Wells delivered a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the first to carry New York to a 5-3 win at home over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. Oscar González, a non-roster invitee claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians in December, hit a two-run homer in the eighth to lead the road squad to a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Ernie Clement homered and drove in three runs on Monday while Danny Jansen and Davis Schneider also went deep as Toronto blasted the Tampa Bay Rays 9-2. Five relievers combined to throw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits, after starter Mitch White was touched up for two runs in three innings of work.
Right-hander José Berríos is unscored upon in five innings over two starts and gets the ball for the Blue Jays on Tuesday. For New York, right-hander Dennis Santana will step in for Weaver. He has eight strikeouts in six scoreless innings over four relief appearances this spring.
