The Houston Astros (9-8) come off a win on Tuesday and head to Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Wednesday night to take on the New York Mets (8-8), who have lost three in a row. Astros first baseman José Abreu could be back in the lineup after missing some time with a balky knee, while right-hander J.P. France, who has been sidelined because of a shoulder injury, could make his Grapefruit League debut this weekend. New York got some good news this week when closer Edwin Díaz, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, made his first appearance of the spring on Monday.

Houston exploded for six runs in the fourth inning on Tuesday to power it to a 9-1 victory over the Miami Marlins. Yordan Álvarez and Grae Kessinger each had two RBIs and the Astros banged out 14 hits. Hunter Brown gave up one run in 3.2 innings, allowing five hits and striking out four.

The Mets mustered just a pair of singles on Tuesday in a 4-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. Jose Quintana worked four scoreless innings before the relief corps surrendered New York's 1-0 lead. Starling Marte's bases loaded walk provided its only run of the day.

Right-hander Luis Severino gets his third start of the spring on Wednesday for the Mets. He's allowed three hits in five scoreless innings so far. Cristian Javier gets the ball for Houston. He has given up two runs in six innings while striking out nine.
