The Los Angeles Angels (11-7) return to the grind on Wednesday after an off day on Tuesday to face the Kansas City Royals (11-7) in a Cactus League encounter at Surprise Stadium. The Royals have dropped their last three games but got some good news on Tuesday. Right-hander Jordan Lyles, who made his only appearance on Feb. 29 before being shut down with a sore back, is scheduled to return to the starting rotation for Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Los Angeles had a three-game winning streak snapped on Monday. Wednesday's game is the second of three scheduled between the Angels and Kansas City, which won the first meeting 1-0 on Feb. 25 in Surprise.

The Royals got a two-run home run from Maikel García in the top of the first before being shut down the rest of the way in a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Left-hander Cole Ragans gave up four runs in 3.2 innings to take the loss. Vinnie Pasquantino was 2-for-3 with a double and scored ahead of García's long ball.
Patrick Sandoval was roughed up for seven runs, only four of them earned, while walking four and allowing five hits in 2.1 innings in Monday's 15-5 loss to the Texas Rangers. Jake Marisnick hit his third homer of the spring, a solo shot, in the seventh inning, while Brandon Drury was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Left-hander Daniel Lynch IV is next in line to start for Kansas City. In four appearances, two of which were starts, he has allowed four runs in nine innings. Left-hander Reid Detmers has eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings for the Angels but has surrendered three runs and walked four as well.
