The Pirates come into Friday's game following a 5-2 loss to the Orioles on Thursday afternoon to bring their spring training record to 7-12. Pittsburgh finished the game with six hits, but were unable to bring each of those runners home to compete with the Orioles. Ke'Bryan Hayes had an RBI groundout to put the Pirates up 1-0 in the first, but the lead didn't last long. Baltimore tied things up in the second, but the Pirates got one back in the bottom of the inning with a Billy McKinney single that scored Henry Davis. That was the final run for Pittsburgh, however, and the team was forced to take another loss. Ryan Borucki took the loss on the mound after pitching one inning and giving up three earned runs.
This will be the first meeting between the Pirates and Yankees in spring training play.
