Valdez was 12-11 with a 3.45 ERA and 1.126 WHIP in 31 starts, earning his second straight All-Star nod, and struck out a career-high 200 hitters in 198 innings. Sunday will be his third start in spring training and he comes off allowing one run in four innings against the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Houston was held to one hit in a 6-1 loss to the New York Mets on Saturday, getting its lone run on Chas McCormick's sacrifice fly in the fifth. Right-hander J.P. France worked 2.1 innings in his spring debut, allowing a run on four hits and fanning four after missing the opening of Grapefruit League with shoulder tightness.
Left-hander Matthew Liberatore starts for the Cardinals on Sunday. He has a 6.00 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 12 innings this spring.
