The Toronto Blue Jays (10-11) signed Cuban right-hander Yariel Rodríguez in February and after a delay as he worked through a back issue, Rodríguez is expected to pitch two innings on Sunday for a Toronto split squad. The Jays host the Minnesota Twins (7-13) at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida. Rodríguez did not pitch last season after Japan's Chunichi Dragons refused to let the 27-year-old out of his contract. In 2022, Rodríguez posted a 1.15 ERA and 0.915 WHIP in 54.2 innings for the Dragons. Minnesota gives the ball to right-hander Jorge Alcala on Sunday. He has allowed two runs in seven innings this spring.

The Twins snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth and holding off the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5. Keoni Cavaco drove in the go-ahead run with a single and Brian O'Keefe's insurance RBI proved important after Tampa Bay scored in the top of the ninth.
The Blue Jays came back from an 8-1 deficit to take a 9-8 lead but wound up on the wrong end of a 10-9 score against the New York Yankees on Saturday. Steward Berroa put Toronto up 9-8 with a three-run homer during a five-run eighth and Bo Bichette hit a two-run shot earlier in the game.
Both teams were playoff clubs last season, with Minnesota sweeping the Blue Jays in the AL Wild Card Series before falling to the Houston Astros in the ALDS.
