First-year quarterback Kenny Pickett, drafted out of Pitt with the 20th pick in the first round back in 2022 with the expectation of him being the Steelers' next great quarterback, showed flashes last season, throwing for 2,404 yards and seven touchdowns, though with nine interceptions. Pickett completed 63% of his passes on the season while running for another 237 yards and three touchdowns.

Pickett will be expected to progress in 2023, showing good potential this past preseason, and players such as running back Najee Harris, wide receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens (a potential superstar) and tight end Pat Freiermuth - all good to great players at their respective positions - will help Pickett do just that.

If the Steelers are going to get back into the playoffs, it'll be on the backs of their elite defense, however, as that side of the ball showed no sign of regression in 2022.
