Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee All on Upset Alert in College Football Week 9

Plus, there’s Game 2 of the World Series.

The top three teams in the AP poll could be on upset alert today as No. 1 Georgia plays rival Florida, No. 2 Ohio State travels to No. 13 Penn State and No. 3 Tennessee hosts No. 19 Kentucky. Along with other intriguing college football matchups on today’s slate, we also have Game 2 of the World Series and the NWSL championship.

Here’s what I’m watching.

MUST WATCH:

Ryan Day

College football: No. 2 Ohio State at No. 13 Penn State

Following a slow start against Notre Dame in its season opener, Ohio State has been dominant. Let’s start with the offense, which has averaged more than 54 points per game in its last six contests. Quarterback CJ Stroud is leading the pack of Heisman Trophy contenders. Now, with an improved defense under new coordinator Jim Knowles, the Buckeyes have their sights set on a national title. But Penn State will be rocking and ready for this one. After getting blown out by then No. 5 Michigan two weeks ago, the Nittany Lions responded with an impressive 45–17 win over Minnesota. Can Penn State pull off the upset to shake up the Big Ten East?

HIDDEN GEM:

College football: No. 19 Kentucky at No. 3 Tennessee

If you tune into Game 2 of the World Series tonight, I won’t blame you. But between innings, check in on this SEC matchup. Tennessee has been on fire this month, dominating LSU on the road before their thrilling upset of Alabama two weeks ago. The Vols should be well rested after putting up 52 points on Tennessee-Martin in the first half last week and will use their high-powered attack to try to thwart upset-minded Kentucky.
