How to Watch Bayer Leverkusen vs. Qarabag: Stream Europa League Live, TV Channel

Bayer Leverkusen hosts Qarabag on Thursday and is chasing a repeat of its 5-1 hammering against this same opponent earlier this season.

Bundesliga leader Bayer Leverkusen only just scraped a draw against Qarabag in the first leg of their Europa League showdown last week and is in need of improvement in Thursday’s round-of-16 second leg. Patrik Schick and Florian Wirtz came off the bench to rescue Die Werkself in its visit to Azerbaijan, with the former scoring in the 92nd minute to ensure his side returned to Germany on level terms. That means a win will ensure Xabi Alonso’s men reach the Europa League quarterfinals, with the Spaniard all but certain to ring the changes among his XI ahead of the second leg.

One could feel sympathy for Azerbaijani league leader Qarabag after coming so close to what would have been a momentous result for the club.

Only a few minutes separated the Horsemen from a triumph over one of the most impressive outfits in Europe this season, with Alonso being touted for a move to Liverpool or Bayern Munich this summer.

And fans were given a glimpse as to why after it was his changes that rescued the draw last week, and it was no surprise wunderkind Wirtz played a role.

The up-and-coming German international has been building momentum as one of the nation’s talents to watch for some years now and is truly flourishing in a first team capacity this season.

Qarabag has lost just five games across all competitions since (inside the 90 minutes) since the start of September, and Leverkusen was responsible for two of those.

It just so happens Qarabag’s visit to the BayArena in October ended with a 5-1 slaughter, and left-sided star Alex Grimaldi picked up two goals for his troubles.

Tural Bayramov’s penalty accounted for Qarabag’s consolation on the day, but a much more impressive display in the open will be required if the club is to salvage its Europa League dream.

Regional restrictions may apply.
