Cincinnati Reds Place Tejay Antone on Injured List, Call Up Familiar Face From Triple-A
Antone was injured on Sunday.
CINCINNATI — The Reds called up right-hander Carson Spiers from Triple-A Louisville and placed Tejay Antone on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation.
Antone suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the New York Mets after throwing just one pitch. Reds manager David Bell said Antone had a torn tendon and ligament in his elbow and will have surgery this week. Awful news for the veteran.
Spiers posted a 2.08 ERA in three appearances in spring training. He gave up 10 runs in 13 innings for the Reds last season.
