By the time Sunday wraps, we will know who takes round one in the new era of the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears rivalry. It’s Jordan Love vs. Justin Fields. It’s two young offenses stacking up against two veteran-led defenses, thanks to a couple of key free-agent signings in the Windy City. But for now, all we can do is speculate and anticipate this exciting Midwestern battle.

With NFC implications, bragging rights and so much more on the line, of course, our experts have racked their brains to finalize the best bet regarding the Packers vs. Bears spread pick, plus a couple of player props for good measure. Read on for a complete betting analysis and preview of this game with odds and a $1,500 first-bet bonus presented by BetMGM Sportsbook.

Packers vs. Bears Spread & Picks Against the Spread for NFL Week 1 on Sunday, 9/10

In our opening NFL Week 1 picks, we referenced our comfort in taking the Bears on the money line in a game that is a near pick ’em. Here, we go a baby step further to declare our pick on the Bears spread at -1 (-110 at BetMGM) for slightly better value.

While we do honestly believe Jordan Love and this young Packers offense will get it going against a weak schedule in 2023, we don’t see it happening at Soldier Field in Week 1, at least enough to warrant a win. Despite being on the road, the pressure is on the Pack, and it sits firmly on the shoulders of Love. He is tasked with carrying the torch of dominance against the Bears, and Chicago is chomping at the bit to take on a Packers team without Favre or Rodgers under center. The defensive additions of T.J. Edwards, Tremaine Edmunds, Yannick Ngakoue and DeMarcus Walker, among others, give this Chicago unit a feisty, new-and-improved look, creating a mixed bag of veterans and young guns.

On offense, Fields understands the assignment against Joe Barry’s defense, a group that looks quite similar to last year, only a lot healthier now. Fields’ familiarity with this defense helps, but so does his promising talent, which we expect to take another leap heading into year three. A crucial part of his success this season rides on his connection with newcomer D.J. Moore, a speedy, sure-handed wideout who recorded three 1,000+ yard seasons in five years with the Carolina Panthers, despite a consistently murky quarterback situation.

Moore not only makes this wide receiver room deeper, but he takes the pressure off the rest of the corps as they continue to figure out an identity. He also takes the top off defenses with his downfield prowess. Moore can be the true wide receiver #1 the Bears have been searching for, and in a matchup with Green Bay, he will likely occupy the services of Jaire Alexander. Even if he doesn’t post an outstanding stat line in Week 1, he can open operations up for the rest of his guys.

The Packers have the edge on the offensive line, but this Bears offensive line should be much improved from the last couple of seasons. If Fields has room to create, he will be a nightmare for anyone, and we expect this offensive line will do enough for him.

For these reasons, our Packers vs. Bears spread pick is on Bears -1 (-110 at BetMGM). You can click here to sign up today and back our pick with $1,500 in first-bet insurance.

Packers vs. Bears Player Props & NFL Best Bets Featuring Luke Musgrave & Justin Fields

We also have two Packers vs. Bears player props for you, one player on each side.

  • Luke Musgrave Anytime Touchdown (+375 at BetMGM)

We detailed this pick in our Week 1 odds coverage, and it is worth reiterating here. If you don’t know him yet, the Packers believe they have their tight end of the future with Luke Musgrave, a second-round pick out of Oregon State this past year. Musgrave is already pinned as the Packers TE1 and could explode onto the scene thanks to his freaky athleticism and quick-developing chemistry with Love. Musgrave provides the Packers with an amiable red zone target at 6 '6”, 253-pound frame. The Bears have struggled to limit the production of tight ends in recent years, and we love Musgrave at this value.

  • Justin Fields Over 55.5 Rushing Yards (-115 at BetMGM)

One of my favorite bets throughout the 2022-23 season was taking Fields’ over on rushing yards, week-in, week-out. While he shouldn’t be running nearly as much this season, because of better protection and for the sake of his longevity, Fields is still capable of ripping off 56 rushing yards in a couple of carries. Moore and Mooney can both take a defense downfield, which can open up sizable patches of turf for Fields. Fields will come out ready to put on a show through the air and on the ground, so we love the 1,000-yard rusher from a season ago to begin this campaign with more running highlights.
