Amazon’s Fire TV line spans both full fledged TVs made by the brand and streaming devices—like Sticks or a Cube—for use with an existing TV you own. They even doubled down on it last fall with the introduction of the Fire TV Omni QLED.
As the name suggests, it’s a 4K UHD TV with the addition of Quantum Dots and a hefty amount of local dimming zones to do all sorts of content justice. Amazon even introduced an Ambient Mode which makes the TV more useful when it is off and even competes with Samsung’s The Frame TV.
Now just six months after the launch of the Omni QLED, Amazon is doubling down again with three new sizes and a much lower starting price of $449. That price is for the new 43-inch size which is up for order now and moves the original entry-point of the 65-inch at $799.99 closer to the most expensive part of the lineup.
Fire TV Omni QLED Now in 43-, 50- and 55-inch Sizes
The good news is that alongside more options for someone to pick from, these don’t mess much with the working formula. The new 43-inch, 50-inch, and 55-inch sizes will come in a similar design to that of the 65-inch and 75-inch with the same speedy Fire TV interface once you power it up.
Content should look vibrant and sharp at up to a full 4K UHD resolution with support for visuals standards like HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The 50-inch and 55-inch like the 65-inch and 75-inch feature local dimming zones. Essentially groups of LEDs which work to create the image. More of these generally equals a more impressive image as far as QLED TVs go. Amazon notes that given the size of the 43-inch, there aren’t local dimming zones on this model.
Still though any size Fire TV Omni QLED will upscale content to close to 4K and should deliver an enjoyable viewing experience, for a killer price. The Fire TV interface provides access to all the major streaming services and thanks to Alexa you can control it all with your voice.
Ambient Mode will engage when the TV is off and it senses a person to show off works of art or even a widget dashboard too. The Fire TV Omni QLED can now pull from over 1,700 works of art from sources like The National Gallery of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago and the National Galleries of Scotland among others. Amazon has been adding more works to choose from since the launch back in Oct. 2022 as well.
You can even ask Alexa for detail on whatever piece of art is showing and all of this is for free. It is also fair to say that Amazon has no plans in the future to charge for this. Especially when it directly competes with Samsung’s Art Mode that costs extra, though you can add your own photos to work around that.
Amazon’s three new sizes of the Fire TV Omni QLED are up for order now and are expected to begin shipping in May of 2023. The 65-inch and 75-inch sizes are still in the lineup with the former seeing a sharp discount.
