The Cardinal won the first two games in the regular season against the Beavers, both by single digits. Another win would launch the Cardinal to the championship game in the Pac-12 this season between either fifth-ranked USC or seventh-ranked UCLA.
The first game saw the Cardinal win 65-56 behind a monster game from Iriafen who finished with a 36-point, 12-rebound double-double. Brink missed out on that game, which was also the game where head coach Tara VanDerveer became the all-time leader in wins in college basketball.
Then, in the second game, the Cardinal staved off a comeback after building a 35-26 lead at the half. Brink was a monster on the boards finishing the game with 25 points, 24 rebounds and four assists. Talia Von Oelhoffen led the charge for the Beavers with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists in a comeback that fell just short.
