The first semifinal of the ACC Tournament in women’s college basketball has all the makeup to be a classic. Heading into this game 14th ranked Notre Dame (24-6) have won six straight games including three straight games against ranked opponents. The Fighting Irish take on 11th ranked Virginia Tech (24-6) for the second time in two weeks with both teams on track to make runs to the Final Four. In the quarterfinals senior Georgia Amoore go off for 27 points for the Hokies, scoring nearly half the teams points and sending them to the semifinals today.

In the semifinals the Fighting Irish took down Louisville (77-68) led by Sonia Citron with 26 points and Hidalgo’s 21 points while the Hokies beat Miami (55-47) without Elizabeth Kitley in the lineup giving Amoore the reins to lead the team with 27 points going 10-12 from the free-throw line.
The last time these teams played the Fighting Irish built a small lead heading into the final period before running away with the win. Hidalgo led the way with 23 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three steals while Citron finished with 21 points. This season the Fighting Irish are 5-0 when Citron scores 20-plus points.
For the Hokies, they will be without Kitley again after she injured her knee a few games ago. That will put the pressure on Amoore to step up again along with the rest of the roster to fill in the shoes of a two-time ACC Player of the Year in Kitley.
