The teams played a scoreless game through regulation and did not open the scoring until overtime. Mason Tatafu put Louisville up 1-0 in the 104th minute before Damien Barker John extended the lead one minute later. The Panthers answered with a goal one minute after John, but that's where the scoring stopped, eliminating Pitt from ACC tournament play. Alex Svetanoff made nine saves in goal to anchor Louisville's defense.

Notre Dame will open tournament play on Sunday after receiving a bye in the first round of play. The team finished off regular season play with an overall record of 11-1-4 and an undefeated conference record of 6-0-2. The Fighting Irish finished off the regular season with a big 6-0 victory over Pitt to earn the team its ninth shutout of the season. Eno Nito scored four goals in the victory to lead the offense, while Matthew Roou and Wyatt Borso each scored one goal apiece. Bryan Dowd played in net for the Fighting Irish, but wasn't challenged often and only had to make one save in the win.
The last time these two teams met was during the 2022 season and it resulted in a 2-0 win for Louisville.
