In the two regular-season wins, the Black Bears won 60-48 early in conference play and then 57-55 towards the end of the season in two very competitive games setting the stage for a great championship game.
Anne Simon led the way in the first game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and four assists. She stuffed the statsheet to help the Black Bears pull away after starting the second period down 14-12. Adrianna Smith added 15 points and seven rebounds in the win as the only other double-digit scorer for the team.
Then, in the second game, the Catamounts made it even more competitive building a 20-8 lead after the first period and 32-24 at the half. Simon (16 points and five steals) and Smith (16 points and nine rebounds) stepped up again in the comeback, along with Sarah Talon (15 points) to sweep the regular season series.
