The two franchises have shared the Bay Area since the A's left Kansas City for the East Bay in 1968 and have met as inter-league rivals since 1997. But this season could be the swan song for the rivalry, which included a World Series in 1989, as the A's lease at Oakland Coliseum expires at the end of the season and their proposed new stadium in Las Vegas isn't expected to be open until 2028, leaving the franchise looking for a temporary home for at least the next three seasons.

Oakland dropped its second straight spring-training contest on Thursday, falling 3-1 to the Chicago Cubs. Left-hander JP Sears allowed two runs over five innings, striking out three. The A's got their only run on an RBI single from non-roster invitee Armando Alvarez in the seventh.
The Giants haven't played since a 19-11 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Catcher Patrick Bailey left that game with a bruised right hand and will be unavailable for several days.
San Francisco will start right-hander Jordan Hicks on Friday. The flame-thrower has 12 strikeouts in 7.1 innings this spring while allowing four runs. Right-hander Paul Blackburn counters for Oakland. He has surrendered four runs in six innings over two starts in Arizona.
