The day is not over for top ranked and defending champion UCLA on the court. The Bruins took on Fort Valley State in the first match of not only the season, but of the day for the men’s college basketball defending champions. The second half of the season-opening doubleheader pits the Bruins against Morehouse, who look to try and pull off the upset against a great team, but also a tired team. This will be an interesting match to see if the Bruins can roll through two teams to start the season or if they will pick up a rare early season loss in men’s college volleyball.

The last time the Bruins were on the court in a college volleyball match that counted they cruised past Hawaii for a 3-1 win in the National Championship match.

Dating back to last season the Bruins have won 12 straight games between the regular season and the postseason. They opened up last season with nine straight wins, which if replicated to start this season will run up the total to 21 straight matches.

After this match the Bruins take a week off before facing 19th ranked Lewis and 10th ranked Loyola-Chicago, then enter the First Point Collegiate Challenge where they will take on fifth ranked Ohio State and sixth ranked Penn State. That will be the toughest stretch of the season for the top ranked team heading into this men’s college basketball season.
