Both teams come into the game in narrow playoff races. Michigan is one game behind the Philadelphia Stars for first place in the north division, but just one game up on both the New Jersey Generals and Pittsburgh Maulers for the final playoff spot. In the south division, the Breakers are in a three-way tie for second place in the division, and just one game behind the Birmingham Stallions for first place.

Last week, Michigan snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the New Jersey Generals 25-22. Panthers receiver Joe Walker had a monster game in that one, with five catches for 121 yards and a score.
The Breakers have lost three games in a row, but all by single-score margins. Last week they came up just short in a 24-20 loss to the Birmingham Stallions.
